In order to allow faculty and staff adequate time to plan, the Summer Efficiencies Schedule for Summer, 2016, begins the week of May 23, 2016, and runs through the week of August 5, 2016. College offices will be open 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and will be closed on Fridays. As some exceptions may apply, please check with your supervisor for specific details that may pertain to your area.
Beginning Wednesday, December 4, and going through Friday, December 18, the NWACC Food Pantry will provide weekly distributions for NWACC students and employees. This includes the Washington County Center. To be eligible for distribution, participants must complete the attached First Time Application (this is only for the first time and is used for record keeping) as well as the Distribution Request form. For first time participants, BOTH forms must be completed. Once completed, the forms may be turned in to Becky Hudson in the Becky Paneitz Student Center room 225H. If you are at the Washington County Center, you may turn them in at the front desk. All forms must be turned in no later than Wednesday of each week. The deadline to submit Passports to Success is Tuesday, December 1! All passports must be turned in by the end of the day TODAY. Passports may be turned in to the Student Information Center or to the WCC front desk.
Just a reminder that the Holiday Meal for Students will be held this Thursday, December 3! Please make students with whom you work aware of this event! See the attached invitation for details.
The NWACC library will be trialing an institution-wide subscription to the Chronicle of Higher Education from now until June 30, 2016. See the attached document to learn how to access your personal subscription on your computer or mobile device.
Enter the NWACC Library Book Spine Poetry Contest! The contest is open to all NWACC Students, Faculty, and Staff. Assemble a poem from book spines. Take a photo of your poem and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org, or post it on the library’s Facebook page. Entries are due by 12:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 2. Judge Extraordinaire will be Curtis Harrell. Winners will receive Kennedy Coffee Gift Certificates: First prize will win $20; 2nd prize will win $10, and 3rd prize will win $5. It’s that time of year again! Instead of spending hours in the kitchen making cookies for family and friends this year, give yourself a break and help out our students. The Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management program is taking orders for their annual holiday cookie trays. Each tray has two dozen assorted cookies, $15 per tray. The deadline to order is Wednesday, December 16. Please return you order form to Rosemary Kleiner at email@example.com. There are a limited number of trays, so be sure to get your order in early. Pickup dates are Monday, December 21, and Tuesday, December 22, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Center for Nonprofits. All proceeds benefit the NWACC Culinary Arts & Hospitality Study Abroad Program. See the attached order form.
The NWACC Sustainability Committee invites student environmental sustainability proposals to be funded for 2016. The deadline for proposals is December 14. Help support NWACC student clubs and get a cool looking NWACC 25th anniversary shirt while doing so. NWACC student clubs and organizations are working together to sell NWACC 25th Anniversary t-shirts. All proceeds will be distributed among the clubs. We are currently taking orders for these great looking shirts. The cost will be $13 and will help our clubs do awesome things. The t-shirts will be charcoal heather gray v-necks. There will be 2 styles. One will have all of the NWACC club logos on the back and the other will have the NWACC 25th Anniversary logo on the back. Both will have the logo on the front. NWACC Food Pantry announces food distribution dates
NWACC’s Food Pantry provides help to NWACC students, faculty and staff throughout the year. Food will be distributed on select Fridays, beginning September 18. The Pantry distribution times will be 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm: location to be announced. A three-day supply of food is given. Applications for assistance can be picked up at the Student Information Center in the Becky Paneitz Student Center or at the Office of Student Life in room 225 H in the Becky Paneitz Student Center. All persons requesting assistance must have an initial application on file. They will then be required to complete a distribution request form each time they request assistance. Distribution Request forms must be turned in the Office of Student Life no later than 4:00 pm on the Friday before distribution Friday. For Distribution dates, please view the attached flyer.
College Algebra Workshops for Fall 2015
This fall the Math Center will offer workshops on topics such as graphing calculators, regression analysis, how to study math, test anxiety, word problems, the ROWOPS program, and exponential & logarithmic functions.
